Short and Sweet

Thank heaven that the government has a new URL shortener all its own at go.USA.gov that will let "lets government employees create short .gov URLs from official government domains, such as .gov, .mil, .si.edu, or .fed.us URLs." Obviously, this is the most important possible use of our tax dollars on computational resources, since microblogging is really critical to most Americans in their interactions with government entities.

Oh, wait, a new Pew Report shows that Twitter, Facebook, and other short-form status-update driven social media platforms are not really very important to average citizens. Although "Go.USA.gov has shortened 8179 URLs that have been clicked 1604902 times," the system privileges early adopter sites, such as top ranked material from the Library of Congress or NASA.
